Blurb One:
At the start of the new year, dazzling fireworks lit up the night sky. Chen Yuke’s eyes were flushed, and with a hint of drunkenness, he cupped her face and lowered his head to kiss the faint mole on the tip of her nose.
The next day, all he said was, “I got blackout drunk. I don’t remember.”
Later, Ruan Zhi happily brought him a gift, only to hear him talking with a friend through the closed door.
“Ruan Zhi treats you so well. Don’t you feel anything for her?”
“We’re too close. I can’t make a move.” He propped his chin on one hand, his long legs resting on the table, a cigarette between his fingers. Its ember glowed in the dim light. He replied nonchalantly, “If you like her, go after her.”
Blurb Two:
After they reunited, Chen Yuke had learned to be shamelessly persistent down to his bones. He was nothing like the proud and reckless boy he’d been when they were younger.
Ruan Zhi tugged at his tie, playing with it in her hand. Suddenly, she pulled hard, making him look up at her. “Chen Yuke, you’ve been used to people fawning over you since you were a kid. But I’m no less impressive. Plenty of people want to date me, and my life will be colorful enough without you.”
She paused, then gave a soft laugh. “You’re not used to me following you around anymore, are you? Have you even cleared out your heart before coming to bother me?”
Chen Yuke tilted his head back slightly, bracing himself with both hands behind him, his shirt open. His eyes rippled with emotion. “You know whether I’ve cleared it out. My heart has never changed. It’s always been you.”
She froze for a moment, then turned her head away with difficulty and covered his eyes with her hand. “I don’t believe you.”
Chen Yuke drew her into his arms and leaned close to her ear, coaxing, “Don’t cover them. I’m yours.”
