They chose those seven because only people close to the god could faintly sense their location. Otherwise, even if someone entered the god's dream, they could easily get lost in its vast, boundless expanse.

Zameiya looked at the "allies" from the other six families, a shadow passing through her eyes.

She was the god's devotee, and she would protect her god until death.
