The whole story is complete.
Healing / cyberpunk / fantasy
A little short story I wrote during high school and dug out. It's a work of pure self-indulgence, so feel free to take a look as you pass by.
The frequencies of sounds humans can hear range from 20 to 20 kHz.
Whales, on the other hand, hear frequencies from 10 to 40 Hz.
One day, a special kind of child came into the world. They were almost indistinguishable from ordinary people, except for their striking looks, fleeting lives, and vocal cords like a whale's, capable only of producing very low- or very high-frequency sounds.
People discovered that most of these children died by drowning, and not one of them lived past the age of eighteen.
They were collectively known as [Whale Children].
Humans could pick up their voices with complex instruments, but for ordinary passersby, the idea was simply too far-fetched.
The little mute's life was quieter than any other.
He sat by the curb, the mud splashing his bare feet.
That day, he looked up and saw a woman in a dark green qipao raise her eyebrows at him. Her voice was naturally sultry as she said, "You're a pretty little thing. Come with me, all right?"
He stood up and suddenly heard the crash of ocean waves and the long, haunting call of a whale beside his ear.
The little mute would never know that his sickly hometown lay inland, and only that battered old train could take him to the sea.
On a snowy night, his soul followed in the woman's footsteps. Their footprints faded into the cold wind, one shallow step at a time.
Behind the pair, a public-service slogan flashed across a street display. It had recently become the subject of heated debate:
[Whale Children are the children of whales. They belong to the sea from the moment they are born.]
A dangerous, beautiful, knife-smiling, sarcastic, tsundere woman assassin
&
A naturally airheaded, quiet, well-behaved, lonely, fragile dog-like Whale Child
A sister-and-younger-brother dynamic
Content warnings:
1. The naturally airheaded one wears down the tsundere. The protagonist is the little mute, but there is a male and female lead. The two are more like siblings, since the little mute was raised by Tingque.
2. Short story! It won't be very long, but it won't be just a few chapters either. I just want to finish the story I wrote back in high school.
3. Open ending
4. An original world setting, with a slight connection to the [Nest] setting, but it doesn't affect much and can be read seamlessly. There's just an added supernatural ability, no big deal.
5. The [Whale Child] concept is also my own, and all of it has a special meaning. Please don't reuse it. I did some basic research to check details like the sound-frequency figures, but there are definitely inaccuracies, so don't take them too seriously, haha. It's close enough for the general idea, and it's not important. For anything I can't explain, let's just blame it on the supernatural~
Theme: Searching for the soul and tracing the self.
"Different Hertz" Whales with different hertz You can't hear me clearly. I can't hear you clearly. The world can't hear your voice Whales can't hear your voice either sounds of different frequencies In a lonely channel Embracing the silence of the sea alone love you love him Love the sound of the world Telling but silently echo throughout life
Wuwuwu, when will I be able to comment? Wuwuwu, my writing is very poor... Or maybe my personal style is too strong, so the acceptance is not high (whispering) Everyone only views the collection... And doesn't comment much...
It's over before I know it TT It's so cold in the cold palace... If I keep squatting here, someone will look at me. (I press the floor in embarrassment.)
Woohoo, dead. (Being caught off guard and knifed.) However, it fits the development of the plot very well. No, maybe it should be said that it has a little mute style. Very clean aesthetic style. In the end, I want to say something to the little mute: Welcome home, child of the sea. If returning to the sea makes you happy, then everything is for the best. Congratulations on breaking away from the noise of the world and returning to the silence that should belong to you. (This sentence refers to both A Kun and myself. I look forward to finding my own silence one day.)
Come on, clean it up, I gave it to you at school! Use the classroom computer! Ha ha. A little guilty.
Just a shower~ It just rained Anyway, it's just for a while This rain will stop anyway Anyway, it will always be sunny Hold an umbrella It doesn't matter whether you fight or not. This rain will stop soon It doesn't matter if you share an umbrella (Improvement, I wrote it to sing. Yeah~) Press claw
Was that news the source of inspiration for Qingli? The whale whose sound is different in Hertz. I also wrote an article inspired by this! Yeah, what a fate.
Ah, this is the whale boy who cannot speak. Is this lucky or unlucky? I hope A Kun can live a little longer, and a little longer.
I like... I like the feeling this article gives me, I like it very much. It feels very gentle, like standing on the beach. The water quietly grows taller with the rising tide, flowing over the surface of the skin. It is very warm and soft. When you get excited about playing, you will feel that if you don't pay attention, the sea water will surge up and hug you. / In this chapter, Tingque's view that "it's better not to be a whale boy" will definitely have a great impact on A Kun. Akun is a good boy. When Que asked, "Are you Kuntong?" He would definitely think of his parents' attitude at that time, but even if he was a little afraid of being abandoned, he still answered honestly. (Touch head) (Actually, you can write more psychological descriptions here.) I discovered it from "Autobiography". Qingli, when a person faces a problem, what he thinks in his heart and how he acts is forward logic. However, reasoning backward from behavior is more uncertain, and the article may seem more difficult to understand.
I last modified 🐰 a long time ago. I remembered it and came here to make a note. When I wrote this article, I was still relatively young. I just followed my own thoughts and didn't think too much. I wrote a lot of stream of consciousness. I stayed in a closed school at that time. Like many of my peers, I didn't have a mobile phone. Of course, my computer classes were basically taken up, so I had almost no contact with the Internet, and many of my thoughts naturally stayed in the old era. At that time, I remembered that this was my first completed article, so I read it again and revised the wrong sentences and structure. I realized that my thoughts had changed a lot from before. 🐰 It's so emotional. But I am still very happy that I decided to sign JJ at that time (it was also the best choice at the time). For me, many of my thoughts and stories are not suitable to be confided to the people around me in the third dimension. Putting a small and transparent article online is like throwing a stone into the sea. For me, what is important is not whether the sea will ripple because of it. What is important is whether there will be swimming fish - seahorses - bubbles - or divers during the time it sinks to the bottom. If you happen to think this stone is pretty good 🐰, then I will be very happy.
