[A HUGE, BOLD INFRASTRUCTURE-BUILDING STORY]
Ji Cheng woke up inside a novel about warring states, where he'd become the doomed ruler of a remote little country.
Looking at his barren, desolate territory, with starving people everywhere, Ji Cheng thought: Why bother fighting? Being able to eat your fill is good enough!
Then he discovered that he had a golden finger!
Ji Cheng was full of anticipation, but there was something off about his golden finger. Was it... a live-stream comment feed full of snark?
Ji Cheng: ...Fine. A towering building starts at ground level. If I want glory, I'll have to earn it myself.
But it seemed the comments could do more than just make snarky remarks.
When Ji Cheng casually picked up an inconspicuous black egg from the field:
[Holy crap, isn't that the protagonist's golden finger, a potato? How did this doomed nobody find it?!]
Ji, the doomed nobody, Cheng: ?
He immediately developed agriculture and planted potatoes on a large scale, sending grain production soaring!
When Ji Cheng casually called out to someone passing by:
[Holy crap, how did he know this was an enemy spy?!]
Ji Cheng: ??? Arrest him!
Later, golden ears of grain filled the poorest barbarian kingdom, its cities stood impregnable, and its people wore bright smiles. Amid a chaotic age of tyrannical rulers and treacherous ministers, it became the only haven of peace.
The people of other kingdoms waited eagerly: When will Lord Ji conquer us?
The story's direction gradually went off course. Just as the viewers accepted that the conquest story they were watching had turned into an infrastructure-building tale,
envoys from other kingdoms arrived: We have come to surrender!
Looking at the heads of rulers lined up before him,
Ji Cheng: Holy crap???
