In her third year after transmigrating to this dynasty, Zheng Wan saw the heir to the Prince of Qin whom she served take up arms and become the new ruler.

With the capital newly secured, the imperial guards were ordered to Yongzhou, the emperor's former residence, to escort his favored concubine, Zheng.

The new emperor went to the outskirts of the capital to welcome her himself. Instead, he received news that she had perished in a fire, along with her charred bones.

Overwhelmed with grief, the emperor collapsed into illness and suspended court for seven days.

More than anything, Zheng Wan hated being treated like a plaything. Yet she had transmigrated into the body of Zheng, Emperor Wucheng's favored concubine in his youth.

When he was in love with her, he indulged her in everything. When he was angry, he locked her away in a secret chamber without a shred of daylight.

Fortunately, according to history, this favored concubine died before turning twenty. At last, on the journey to the capital, the relay station caught fire.

She headed toward her own ending, believing she could finally put everything behind her.

But months later, the man she had believed dead appeared again.

He closed in step by step. Blood trickled down his sword as he glared at her. "Wanwan, you've brought this on yourself."
