Han Cishi is the illegitimate daughter of an official family in Jiangnan, and she has a secret no one knows.
Every night after she falls asleep, she goes to another manor.
That manor is countless times larger than her home, and many immortals live there. They teach her another language and call her a Saniwa. Some even call her their master. The girl is baffled, but under their guidance she learns all kinds of new things and experiences a happiness she never knew in her secluded family compound.
As she grows older, she visits that wondrous world in her dreams less and less. The disappointment she feels each time she wakes builds up, again and again, under the oppressive weight of reality.
At sixteen, she is betrothed. Her husband's family lives hundreds of miles away. She puts on her wedding dress, boards a ship, and steps from one cage into another prison.
Midway through the journey, while standing on deck to get some fresh air, she gazes out at the boundless sea. Her heart, clogged with so many things, can no longer hold back. It all bursts out in an instant.
She pushes away her wet nurse and maid, then jumps into the water.
In a rift in time and space, there is a remarkable Honmaru beyond the government's jurisdiction. Its Tsukumogami can see their Saniwa only in their dreams. They have watched their Saniwa grow from a little girl into a graceful young woman, and each of them has been filled with joy and a sense of accomplishment.
The only thing that troubles them is that their Saniwa has appeared less and less often over the past two years, and each time, her smile seems more forced. They have tried everything to find a way to see her in the real world, but to no avail.
One late night, a short sword from the Awataguchi who was on night duty set off the Honmaru alarm, waking all the Tsukumogami from their dreams.
Over the PA, Ran Toushirou's voice rang out, frantic with joy:
"Master! Master has surfaced in the pond!"
[This is not your fault. You have always been cherished by the world. You don't need to grieve or feel sad. You will have all the freedom you desire.]
[The world is vast. Take a good look around.]
Reader advisory:
* At its heart, this is a travel story about raising a girl. There is nothing that requires much brainpower. The author has no grand ambitions and just wants to cuddle.
* It will involve several worlds, including sorcerers, detectives, and demon slayers, but the main focus is on spending time with everyone in the Honmaru.
* The girl is gentle and will grow little by little. She should have a romantic experience or two.
* There will be face-slapping scenes when she returns to her original world. The author likes overpowered characters and satisfying stories.
* You can criticize anyone you like, but don't criticize me or the girl.
Theme: Everyone should be able to live freely
