After transmigrating into a book, Qu Zhizi was bound to a System and tasked with winning over the supporting male character, who was destined to be cannon fodder, to ensure she wouldn't meet a miserable end.
The male character, Yan Zhi, was aloof and cold, and gentle only toward the female lead. Qu Zhizi raised her hand earnestly. "Can I go after the male lead instead?"
System: ...?
Her: Okay, I can't steal the female lead's man.
Early in her campaign, Qu Zhizi became the annoying deskmate, pestering Yan Zhi every day to explain problems and help her study, then dragging him into competitions, all under the pretext of building a bond between deskmates.
A few months later, her favorability score hadn't budged, but Qu Zhizi had scored over 500 on her exams.
Midway through her campaign, Qu Zhizi became a model friend. She helped Yan Zhi recover from heartbreak, solved his problems, and took him to run a night market stall, where he earned his first pot of gold.
A few months later, his favorability score still hadn't budged, and Qu Zhizi had opened a snack shop.
Late in her campaign, Qu Zhizi still hadn't figured out what to do when Yan Zhi suddenly invited her to his house for dinner. The table was covered with delicious food and Five Three exam prep books.
Yan Zhi: "Prepare yourself. I'll pursue you in college."
Qu Zhizi: ???
His favorability score hadn't changed at all. What step had she missed?

Yan Zhi had a very strange ability. Whenever he touched someone, he could see the color of their soul.
Most of the souls he saw were half black and half white. Qu Zhizi was the exception: he couldn't see the color of her soul.
Curious about her, Yan Zhi allowed her to get close, became her friend, and gradually began to think about keeping her hidden away forever.
On the night his heart went out of control, a thunderstorm happened to roll in. He used his fear as an excuse to rush into her arms. The moment their hands touched, he saw someone else in her soul.

Qu Zhizi mentioned to the System that her favorability score hadn't changed. The System spent its processing power checking, then suddenly discovered a bug:
Yan Zhi's affection score had already exceeded its limit, but it was directed at the real Qu Zhizi, who had come from the real world.
