Matsuda Jinpei had drunk two cups of coffee before the blue-eyed girl across from him, who had been looking this way for ages, finally got up and walked straight over.
Judging by her direction, he wasn't the target... Yeah, he was used to it.
"Hi," she said, just as expected, striking up a conversation with the half-long-haired police officer. "You know, I just walked past you, and at a glance, you really reminded me of someone I know."
Hagiwara Kenji smiled smoothly. "Maybe we've met somewhere before?"
Matsuda Jinpei didn't want another cup of coffee. Seeing that this conversation showed no signs of ending, he sighed softly.
"Whoever this guy looks like, your older brother, younger brother, or father," he interrupted flatly, "could you let me get out of here first, "
", Nope."
Meeting the lazy black gaze of the curly-haired young man, the player corrected him solemnly. "Actually, he really has the same vibe as my big nephew."
"..."
The half-long-haired young man's smile froze, while Matsuda Jinpei...
Officer Matsuda laughed out loud without the slightest restraint.
She was telling the truth, after all. The player shrugged helplessly and said goodbye to the two officers.
She also collected the reward for her beginner quest.
However... Seven murders in three days, and she lost her money-making ability from the start. Faced with a whole new second playthrough and a starting map that was anything but peaceful, the former Gotham player couldn't help feeling a powerful sense of deja vu. She started itching for action.
"System, don't you have any beginner benefits? Like instantly learning how to use a hang glider?"
[Perhaps what you're looking for is this: the Tokyo Hang Gliding Club rankings.]
"Can the club teach me how to run along rooftops hundreds of meters up?"
[No.]
The first step to becoming Batman was night patrol. But before that... she still needed a hang-gliding instructor.
Some shifty-looking white-clad thief, for example, seemed perfect for the job.
In this alternate world, suppose the player chooses to enter the second playthrough at age 20, with the timeline set six years before the main Detective Conan story...
I really like the version I had while drafting this, and regret not writing some parts, so I'm turning it into a standalone story. The setting will be rewritten, and it will have basically no connection to the plot of the other story.
I also wanted to experiment with handling conflicts and pacing... and so on, so this won't be very long.
What else was there...? I can't remember. I'll add it later.
