Crossing the Line

Wen Yi had a senior she really liked.

On her birthday, she finally worked up the courage to confess, and the two of them got together.

But less than a month later, her boyfriend awkwardly asked to break up,

saying she was too boring.

It was drizzling the day they broke up. Wen Yi went out for drinks with a friend,

and as she walked home beneath her umbrella, her phone rang in her bag. She answered.

The voice on the other end was cool and clear. "Yiyi, turn around."

She turned. The young master of the Cheng family stood behind her, drenched from head to toe in the rain.

The Cheng family had two sons, both rising stars in their industries.

The younger one, Cheng Yanyi, was especially formidable, with skills on par with the old master of the Cheng family.

His privileged background and a face more handsome than any male actor in show business made him the focus of society ladies' attention as soon as he returned to the country.

But before they could act on their interest, the Cheng family announced that Cheng Yanyi had married young.

Countless society ladies had their hearts broken overnight.

Wen Yi was the daughter of a Cheng family servant. Ever since she could remember, she had followed Cheng Yanyi around.

They went to school and played together, making them childhood friends, more or less.

To Wen Yi, her childhood friend was a heaven-sent prodigy, a dazzling moon.

She was merely an insignificant star beside him.

It wasn't until the moonlight fell on her that she realized the moon had crossed the line long ago.

One day, Wen Yi happened upon Cheng Yanyi's old phone.

It held countless sent text messages, but not one had ever received a reply.

The messages had been sent to a number she had abandoned long ago.

*

Every day with you, I just want to cross the line.
