On the rainy day Wen Tingyu became the dance troupe's principal dancer, her boyfriend threw a party for her and invited a crowd of people.
Everyone was having a good time when someone came over and urged Wen Tingyu to drink.
Wen Tingyu was on her period and was about to refuse when she heard her boyfriend quietly order, "Come on, don't ruin everyone's fun."
As she hesitated, a stranger spoke calmly from the corner.
The man's bangs were slightly damp, and he was putting away a black umbrella with a long handle. "Wen Tingyu, right? Didn't I tell you at the hospital this afternoon not to drink for a week?"
But the two of them didn't actually know each other.
Only later did Wen Tingyu learn that this kindhearted man who had spoken up for her was Cen Lin, the heir to the Cen family, who had returned after studying medicine.
The next time she saw Cen Lin was on the eve of the dance production's opening night.
Wen Tingyu, the lead dancer, accidentally fell down the stairs.
Sitting in a wheelchair, she watched the understudy shine onstage in her place. She also saw the understudy boldly fondling and kissing her boyfriend in the dressing room.
The rain was pouring down. After the opening night, Wen Tingyu went to the hospital in a sorry state to get an X-ray, and Cen Lin was the doctor who saw her.
After carefully bandaging her wound, the man asked, "Do you want revenge?"

Cen Lin took off his gloves and said casually, "Want to try dating me?"

Not long afterward, her ex-boyfriend's family fell into financial trouble and was acquired by the Cen family.
Wen Tingyu had assumed Cen Lin had done it for her.
She fell deeper and deeper.
The man saw through her feelings, but only asked in return, "Did I seduce you? Didn't I make it perfectly clear that I can't love you?*"
On yet another rainy night, at a cemetery, she saw Cen Lin holding her ex-boyfriend's head down, making him bow before a gravestone.
It turned out that one of the former girlfriends of Wen Tingyu's playboy ex-boyfriend had been Cen Lin's white moonlight.
And a dead white moonlight, the most devastating kind.
Wen Tingyu was heartbroken and chose to leave.
At a masquerade ball, she ran into Cen Lin by chance.
She walked past him with a cool expression, but the man grabbed her wrist and held on tight.
Cen Lin took the swan mask off his face. "Miss Wen, how are you going to thank me for what I did to your ex-boyfriend?"
Wen Tingyu gave a cold laugh. "We were just using each other. Don't make me laugh, Mr. Cen."
Wen Tingyu didn't know:
After she left, the man stood before a whole wall of ballet shoes and listened to the rain all night.
"When I said I couldn't love you, I was talking to myself. I tried to keep myself in check, but I still fell helplessly in love with you."
