Yan Yi died.
As a semi-truck sent her flying higher than the power lines, the sky before her eyes turned into a PowerPoint presentation. The first line read, "Please select the book and chapter for the Host to transmigrate into."
The available books and chapters were:
1: "I Married the Villain and Started Living Easy"
Chapter 3: After I cut off one of the villain's hands, he said he would kill me.
Yan Yi: ...Can I really lie flat in this one?
2: "I Faked My Death the Year My Target Loved Me Most"
Chapter 50: The moment I slit my own throat, my target fell to his knees and begged me not to leave him.
Yan Yi: Slit my own throat? No thanks. She thinks getting her ears pierced hurts.
3: "After I Got Mind-Reading Powers, I Found It Easy to Win Over the Villain"
Chapter 20: The villain discovers that I was lying whenever I said I loved him.
Yan Yi: ...Is there no book with a more positive message for her to transmigrate into?
The PowerPoint on the sky finally scrolled down a page:
4: "After I Drove My Senior Brother Insane by Courting Death"
Chapter 10: I get caught spying on my junior brother while he's bathing by the senior brother who has a crush on me.
Yan Yi: ...That's all?
The System answered coldly: Yes.
Well, if it's just a bath... Yan Yi said with difficulty: Fine, I'll take this one.
At least he's not a villain, and someone else has a crush on her. It should be better... right?
The System's cold electronic voice said: Host, please click Confirm to go directly to this chapter.
Yan Yi clicked Confirm next to the fourth option.
The world twisted.
When she regained consciousness...
In a cave filled with rumbling sounds, Yan Yi slowly opened her eyes. Beside her lay a young man covered in blood.
His eyes brimmed with bloody tears. One arm hung at his side at an unnatural angle, clearly broken for some time. He looked at her with shattered, empty eyes. "So everything you said, that you loved me, cared for me, wanted to marry me, was a lie?"
Yan Yi: ? Why doesn't this match the plot?
In her mind, that mechanical voice sounded a little apologetic: System malfunction. A custom-written original story has already been prepared for you, so this selection failed.
Yan Yi nearly choked. "What do you mean, custom-written? What book did I transmigrate into?"
The electronic voice said softly: "...Well, maybe you were already a character in this book."
Yan Yi asked, confused: "What book is it?"
The mechanical voice grew quieter and quieter: "After cutting off your villainous senior brother's hand, faking your death by suicide and disappearing for thirty years, and driving him insane, you end up together..."
Yan Yi: ...Wow, wow, you just mashed all those books together, didn't you? Listen to yourself. Does that even sound possible? :)
Optimistic little-sunshine junior sister trying her best to follow the plot x possessive, obsessive, and twisted Ninth Senior Brother
The heroine travels from ancient times to the modern day, then back to ancient times. She's been herself all along; there is no original host!!!
I thought of this premise in the middle of the night and got up to write the blurb.
I'll flesh it out later.
Probably a melodramatic, tearjerking story about healing and redemption, bringing together the dramatic tropes from all four book titles in the blurb.
