She believed she was weak and had no say in anything, so she never dared to speak up in order to protect herself. Even as she agonized over things she thought she'd said wrong, people's opinions of her were quietly changing.

When her master punished her by sending her to exterminate demons, she returned to the sect dusty and exhausted. Her senior and junior fellow disciples at the gates saw how calmly and capably she had completed several high-level missions, and came to admire her.

Meanwhile, Zhou Fuyao was crying inside like a cat: Damn it, I almost became an afternoon snack for a demon! Good thing I ran fast.

1. There is no groveling redemption arc. Even after the male leads die and return, they still take care of the heroines. The heroines only change their ways once their consciences wake up.

2. The heroines are awful for a reason, and the male leads won't be put through extensive abuse. A little angst is good for the soul.

3. I wanted to write this because I love the combination of reformed rakes and nonhuman characters.
