A Kiss from the Divine

Everyone who cultivates immortality and seeks the Dao has a guardian deity.

Bai Jin, the youngest Sword Saint in the Sword Sect, has a little God of Plagues as his guardian deity.

Zide says he isn't happy about it, either. As a God of Plagues, all he had to do was enjoy the good life in heaven.

Who could have known that a sudden war between immortals and demons would claim the lives of countless immortals? Only the little God of Plagues, hiding in a corner, survived.

Zide is dragged down to the mortal realm, grumbling all the way. Then, on the very day Bai Jin advances in cultivation, a bolt of lightning sweeps Zide into the space between Bai Jin's brows, making him Bai Jin's guardian deity.

"Um, I didn't do it on purpose. Do you believe me?" Zide floats before the scowling Bai Jin, trying to ingratiate himself. He even takes out his treasured possession, a pen that turns stone into gold, along with his stockpile of golden pills.

Well, life certainly has its ups and downs after Bai Jin gets a God of Plagues for a guardian. Mostly downs... In the end, Bai Jin even falls into the demonic path to protect the little God of Plagues. What a sad tale.

"You can let go," the little God of Plagues sobs.

Bai Jin shields him with all his might, undeterred by the attacks unleashed by the various sects.

If he can't protect the one he loves, what does it matter if all his merit is lost? What does it matter if he becomes a demon?
