Hiromitsu Morofushi's greatest wish had always been to get into the police academy
and catch the person who murdered his parents.
When Hiromitsu was a child, he made a wish to Santa Claus every Christmas:
He didn't need any presents.
He only wanted those two wishes to come true.
He kept up the tradition even after learning that Santa Claus didn't exist.
One Christmas, before he was due to take the police entrance exam,
he made his usual wish.
And then he witnessed the greatest impossibility in the world.
The first year after his death
Scotch learned a simple truth:
People who die by suicide really do become earthbound spirits.
The second year after his death
He was still trapped on the rooftop.
Other than the FBI agent who visited once a year,
he couldn't see a single soul.
The third year after his death
The FBI agent didn't come.
That worried him a little.
Then one day, his beloved childhood friend appeared on the rooftop.
Only then did Scotch realize that there would never be another Scotch.
"That couldn't be better..."
The fourth year after his death
Scotch learned something:
An earthbound spirit whose wish has been fulfilled will no longer be trapped in one place.
What he didn't know was
that Santa Claus felt terribly guilty about being unable to grant little Hiromitsu's wish.
So Santa Claus decided to let him fulfill his own wish.
