After cutting down the Desireless Ancient Tree that carried the fortune of ascension for all the immortals, Ji Si was reviled by thousands after her death, her reputation in tatters.
Everyone said that Ji Si was a mere evil spirit, vicious by nature and destined never to ascend. She must have used such a despicable trick out of jealousy toward the other celestial officials, trying to drag them all down with her.
Until one day, the Desireless Ancient Tree was restored.
A black, pointed claw reached out from among its branches and seized an immortal who was about to ascend, tearing him into a heap of flesh.
“Finally, I can eat again,” it said.
Cultivators train and toil day and night for nothing more than ascension.
Ji Si was no different.
Except that others sought to become gods.
She sought to bring the gods down.

Reader’s guide:
1. Plot-focused. The heroine is at the pinnacle of combat ability, does whatever she wants without restraint, and hates interacting with people. If trouble comes, she punches first. The hero is deaf and mute, but that doesn’t hinder communication. He’s an obedient younger guy. The CP dynamic is roughly a cool queen × a gloomy puppy.
2. Lots of original worldbuilding, with an ancient-style Lovecraftian horror setting.
