The Sect's First Seat Rose to Power by Poaching Disciples

Yun Dai is a kind-hearted demon.

She saves a sword cultivator named Wen Chunyan and later becomes his fiancee.

After returning with Wen Chunyan to his immortal sect, his fellow disciples, his master, and his childhood sweetheart all look down on Yun Dai for being a lowly demon. They call her uncouth and ignorant of proper etiquette.

At first, Wen Chunyan protects Yun Dai. But little by little, he grows weary and starts deliberately keeping her from going out, as if she were something to be hidden away from the light.

Yun Dai is a demon, and demons have their dignity. Love will not make her willingly debase herself.

Just as she thinks that she and Wen Chunyan are simply one more ill-fated pair among countless others, and is counting down the days until she leaves Zhaoyang Sect,

she meets someone.

He wears a dark, patterned brocade robe, his black hair tied back with a matching ribbon. He comes hunting demons beneath the moon, his entire being radiating a murderous aura meant to exterminate evil.

"A demon?" Rong Ling looks down at Yun Dai, his expression cold, as if ready to slay her at any moment.

Unable to escape, Yun Dai rises from the water. "I am a demon, so what? I have never killed anyone. On the contrary, I give the people ice in summer and charcoal in winter. Just because I'm a demon, does that mean you have to kill me?"

As the chief of the Discipline Court, Rong Ling has a mind as resolute as the man who strikes fear into demons and monsters. "A demon is a demon."

Yun Dai sneers. "How narrow-minded. By your logic, a human is just a human. Then why bother cultivating immortality, True Lord? It's all a waste of effort. Are the futures of all things truly determined by their origins?"

Rong Ling never imagined he would debate the Dao with a demon, much less that he would fall in love with her.

He teaches her immortal arts and gives her magical artifacts. Having spent his life killing demons and monsters, Rong Ling now worries that some careless cultivator might kill her, and wishes he could arm her from head to toe.

When others make things difficult for Yun Dai because she is a demon, Rong Ling stands in front of her.

At first, Rong Ling thinks this is nothing more than the affection between kindred spirits.

Until the day he sees his own gaze reflected in Yun Dai's eyes, and realizes his wolfish ambition is plain for all to see.

His gaze toward her has never been innocent.

Content warning: The male lead, Rong Ling, wins her over by stealing her from someone else. Love comes around the corner.
