She made that wish for ten years.
Later, she really did become a little stone statue in the ancient temple on Kong Mountain where she had once made her wish. She stood before the Buddha, without spirit or awareness, neither living nor dying.
Later still, someone else made a wish before the Buddha for ten years: if there was another life, he wished to become a plant beside the little stone statue, living and dying, dying and living, so that they could remain together for all eternity.
