[Lazy, carefree young master x clever, resilient money-grubber]
[1]
Miao Shi is obsessed with money.
What she loves most is making and saving it, and watching her balance grow day by day.
When the handsome computer science department heartthrob, with a face like a delicate glass doll, asked her to have dinner with him every day,
her only response was two words: "You're crazy."
Jing Sui's voice remained as languid as ever. "Three thousand a month, meals included. Extra meals are a hundred an hour."
Miao Shi immediately put on a friendly smile. "Deal!"
After all, who turns down money?
Later, the two went from meal buddies to good friends who made money together.
Their revolutionary friendship kept growing warmer.
Jing Sui dropped his usual lazy manner and said to her solemnly:
"Miao Shi, let's be together."
Miao Shi unhurriedly picked every bit of scallion out of the young master's bowl, then shot him a disdainful look.
"Please don't sully our pure financial arrangement with love."
"If you want me to keep eating with you, pay up. Don't expect to freeload."
Jing Sui: ...
[2]
From childhood onward, every meal had been torture for Jing Sui.
Then one day, he saw Miao Shi, the famous girl from the journalism department, eating.
She was so focused and full of life.
Suddenly, some of the dishes in the awful school cafeteria looked pretty good.
To save his dangerously low body weight, he hired Miao Shi to eat with him.
Even though they always ordered the same food, Jing Sui always thought the food in Miao Shi's bowl tasted best.
Every time, Miao Shi looked displeased, but still took a clean bowl and split her food with him.
"I suggest you see a therapist. Other people's food tastes better?"
Jing Sui propped his chin on his hand, looking as lazy as ever. "The food in your bowl tastes best."

Miao Shi had lived with three different families.
But none of them were her home. She was only ever a guest.
So she needed to save money, buy a house, and finally have a home of her own.
When the rich, carefree young master heard her wish, he said it would be easy to make it come true.
"You want to buy a house? I'll buy one for you. Can you keep eating with me?"
For once, Miao Shi didn't snap back. "It's not a house I want. It's a home."
"A home that belongs to me. Do you understand?"
