Abandoned by her parents, Xia Yu returns to Yihe Zhuwu Town with fifty thousand yuan in compensation. Here, there's her grandmother's hot soup, a puppy doll left behind by her childhood friend Lin Yang, and green bamboo and warm lights that hold memories of the past. As the indifference of the city meets the gentleness of the old town, and forgotten bonds intertwine with the pain of growing up, Xia Yu searches for the answers to being loved and finding redemption in the morning light and bamboo shadows of Zhuwu Town.
