Xu Nianzhu woke up one day and found herself reborn.
In her previous life, she had grown up in a single-parent family, relying on her mother and the two of them supporting each other. She was obedient and excelled at school, coming first every year. Everyone praised her as the model child their own kids should emulate.
Later, she got into university with excellent grades, went on to graduate school and earned her doctorate, and eventually became a university professor.
Xu Nianzhu excelled in every way, yet at twenty-nine she was still unmarried. Then she met Xie Yue.
Xie Yue was no good guy. He had a scar at the end of his eyebrow, had never gone to school, and had gone to Yangcheng as a teenager to get mixed up with the gangs. He was like a gangster straight out of a movie.
After more than a decade in the underworld, he became Brother Xie, or Boss Xie, as some people called him.
He was called a big boss, but he had no proper business. He led a gang of underlings, and in the eyes of the educated, he was nothing more than a low-class gang leader.
No one thought they were a good match, but Xie Yue fell for Xu Nianzhu at first sight and pursued her for two years. They ended up together, spending ten blissful years side by side without a single argument.
Over those ten years, Xie Yue learned to do business. He caught the wave of the times, and his business grew bigger and bigger until he truly became the widely acclaimed Boss Xie.
The people who had once doubted the two of them began praising Xu Nianzhu for having such a good eye and choosing the right man.
They had been happily married for ten years, with no illness or accident. Xu Nianzhu couldn't understand why she had been reborn.
But if she had any regrets, there were indeed two things she regretted in this life.
The first was that her mother, her only family, had died in a car accident when Xu Nianzhu was sixteen.
The second was that she hadn't met Xie Yue before she turned sixteen. She hadn't been able to stop him from giving up on himself and letting himself sink into the mire. She wanted to tell him that someday, someone would love him.
Then Xu Nianzhu was reborn in 1990. She was only fourteen, and her mother's death was still two years away.
Her future husband, Xie Yue, was still in some remote mountain village in the south, and hadn't yet had the chance to go to Yangcheng and become a gangster.

After being reborn, Xu Nianzhu wanted to go find her future husband, but they were thousands of miles apart. The journey was long, and in the 1990s, when transportation was underdeveloped, meeting was no easy matter.
Fortunately, a magical notebook had come back with Xu Nianzhu.
There was a counterpart to the notebook on Xie Yue's side. Whatever she wrote in it, he could see, and the two of them could chat through its pages.
Xu Nianzhu eagerly picked up her pen, hoping to give him hints by keeping a diary. Her husband was so clever, surely he'd understand what she was getting at!
She never expected it to take two days for him to reply.
But the handwriting was so terrible that after a long time trying to make it out, Xu Nianzhu finally realized he had written:
[Who r** you? What did you wr*te? I can't re*d it?]
It meant: Who are you? What kind of nonsense did you write? I can't understand it.
It was a short sentence, but the handwriting was crooked and hard to decipher, and there were even several characters he didn't know how to write.
Xu Nianzhu: ...I'd forgotten. My husband is still an illiterate who never went to school.

Xu Nianzhu knew Xie Yue had a hard life as a teenager.
She had once thought that if she could go back in time, she would give him lots and lots of presents so he could feel the warmth of the world.
Later, Xu Nianzhu really was reborn.
The first present she gave Xie Yue after her rebirth was a modern Chinese dictionary and ten handwriting practice books.

Well-behaved top student from the city x uneducated country hooligan
Content warnings: This story expands on the first mini-world from a quick transmigration novel. Some jokes and tropes are the same, but the main setup and characterizations differ slightly, so you can treat them as two completely different people.
The male lead won't stay a hooligan. He's incredibly good to his wife! He works hard at studying for her, and while he fell in love at first sight in their previous life, this time he gets to make up for his regrets. Since they can't meet at first, this is probably an online romance (?).
Premise: Love that never wavers
