After graduating, Chi Jing returned to the mountains that had raised her, despite having a bright future ahead of her.

The villagers didn't understand. Why come back after finally making it out of this backwater?

Chi Jing said nothing. She rode her motorcycle along the rugged mountain roads, knocking on the courtyards of children who had dropped out of school, again and again.

She led the village in planting red-fleshed kiwifruit and Three-Branch Nine-Leaf Grass. She set up a free holiday day-care program at the village primary school, and turned an abandoned old house into a guesthouse...

Later, the village's muddy dirt roads became smooth, solid concrete roads. The villagers had more and more money in their pockets, and fewer and fewer children dropped out of school to go to work...

Only then did the villagers realize that Chi Jing had returned to the mountains, but had personally paved a way out for many more children. She had also brought new life to this remote village.
