Blurb:
Li Jiao fell to her death.
When she opened her eyes, she had become a disgraced daughter in feudal society, condemned for murdering her father and brother, and subjected to endless humiliation in a damp, dark prison.
In feudal society, power was everything. With no one to rely on, her only hope of survival was to attach herself to someone influential.
So she chose Shen Qin, the renowned young master of a prestigious family, celebrated throughout the land as the foremost paragon of integrity.
The Shen family had been known for its integrity for generations, but it was also a target of every faction at court. This noble clan, seemingly content to keep to itself, was already at the end of its rope, held together only by its eldest legitimate son, Shen Qin.
Then a woman claiming to be Shen Qin's lover showed up at their door with a marriage contract and demanded that he marry her.
From that day on, everyone spoke of this young madam with infamy:
Barely had she been married before she was frequenting gambling dens and brothels, forcing the ever-proper and self-controlled young master of the Shen family to set foot in such a vile place for the first time.
She also stirred up a storm in the misty, rainy lands south of the Yangtze, unleashing a tide of blood that drove the self-disciplined gentleman and the great aristocratic clans to turn their blades on one another.
Everyone lamented that the demonic woman had bewitched the eldest Shen son, and that the Shen family was sure to suffer for it.
Later, the Shen family did indeed fall from power, and Shen Qin was charged with treason.
To everyone's surprise, the infamous demonic woman transformed into a benefactor who rescued the Shen family from disaster.
After Shen Qin was thrown into prison, the once-timid Shen household regained its former glory thanks to one frail young woman.
Wicked woman x saintly man, married first, love later
An exception for the wicked, and private affections for the saint
Reader's note: Half plot, half romance. This is not a story about an overpowered female lead, so please don't judge the heroine by that standard. It's just a regular wish-fulfillment novel, so have fun reading. ^_^
● BG romance, both leads have only ever been with each other. Do not ship anyone outside the canon pairing. The author only supports the canon pairing.
Theme: Even when trapped in the most desperate circumstances, fight with everything you have to survive. Even if you have to make a deal with the devil, carve out a path to life.
