In China, psychological counseling and psychiatric diagnosis have distinct professional titles. To receive a professional license, the former requires an educational background in psychology, while the latter requires a medical background. Medication is needed when there is a physical disorder affecting the body's organs, not merely a problem with one's psychological state. A doctor's treatment can cover both approaches: prescribing medication based on examination results, or simply talking with the patient. This note is included for clarity.
