[Fun-Loving Protagonist] [Mastermind Behind the Scenes] [Spiritual Qi Revival] [Secret Identity]
On his twentieth birthday, Xu Zhou's chuunibyou tendencies flared up again. He made a wish over the candles:
"If there really are gods, please grant me the power to change the world!"
A god heard him.
It said, "Granted."
That very night, Xu Zhou received a job offer and became an intern planner and beta tester for a game called Earth Online.
From then on, people began to notice the world changing.
At first, the inexplicable events from school ghost stories became reality. A woman who had jumped to her death returned, weeping tears of blood. Flocks of bats flew toward an ancient castle in the woods. On nights of the full moon, wolf packs began to howl...
Then the ancient legends began to revive:
A barefoot ascetic in a black robe carried a burden of thorny branches, atoning for an unknown sin upon the silent earth. In an ancient, weathered temple, a shaman danced a bizarre and elaborate dance atop the altar. Golden-red bubbles burst inside test tubes as a zealous alchemist unlocked the secrets of bloodlines.
An old Taoist in plain clothes and a bamboo hat awoke from meditation, his cloudy eyes gazing at the cloudy earth. A female ghost in a blood-red wedding dress combed her hair before a mirror, her cold jewels gleaming darkly beneath red candles. A carefree swordsman in blue sheathed his blade, with a strange monster split apart by sword energy behind him.
At last, the unknowable sang the song of the stars, celebrating the birth of a new deity.
Xu Zhou, who had just been made head planner for Earth Online, said, "What does this new god, Xu Zhou, have to do with me, the planner Xu Zhou?"
