Can I Breathe?

[Pre-order for my column story, After Getting Back Together with the Movie Emperor, please add it to your collection!]

Ning Shen has a weak heart. After graduating from college, he returned to his hometown to recuperate.

On his first day back, he sat on an electric suitcase and rode it up from the bottom of the slope. Mountain mist swirled around him, shrouding a city in the distance.

As he passed a hot pot restaurant, a tall, slender young man in blue overalls called to him in a lazy local accent, "Big brother, come in for hot pot."

Ning Shen glanced up at him and thought,

He's pretty handsome.

Xue Qihuai had never seen anyone take medicine by the handful before. Black pills filled Ning Shen's palm.

Leaning against the wall, he asked Ning Shen, "Are you just going to stay here and live like this forever?"

"There's no cure for my illness." Ning Shen put his arms around his neck and said slowly, "Fallen leaves have to return to their roots."

Xue Qihuai held a cigarette between his lips and looked down at Ning Shen's crown, saying nothing.

It wasn't until Ning Shen passed out in an abandoned building on the mountain, his lips pale and not looking alive at all, that Xue Qihuai suddenly realized he couldn't let Ning Shen go on like this.

"My soul screams at me, telling me I have to fight to stay alive."

The sunny, laid-back hot pot restaurant owner gong (Xue Qihuai) x the slow-moving shou with a weak heart (Ning Shen)

●Reader's Guide:

① Both are each other's only one; happy ending; older gong

② The shou has a weak heart and is close to death, but he doesn't die. He stays alive and well throughout the story, and will continue to do so.

③ The gong is both a waiter and the owner of his family's hot pot restaurant.

④ The full story is already written; I won't abandon it after starting.
