My Mortal Enemy, the Movie Emperor, Finally Made His Move on Me

The has-been singer Qiao Xueshi is invited to join a morally (questionably) upright variety show.

The show features not only his cheating ex-boyfriend and the new lover who came between them, but also his sworn rival in the entertainment industry, the hugely popular Best Actor Jiang Lian. The other guests are no easier to get along with. Every one of them has a grudge against someone else.

Spectators who love a good show: Fight! Fight!

But when the show airs...

His ex-boyfriend and the new lover put on a big display of affection right in front of Qiao Xueshi, while Jiang Lian walks out of the kitchen carrying a dish he made himself. “Xueshi, try my ex-boyfriend, smashed with a cleaver.”

Viewers: Did I miss ten episodes? Something feels wrong with this plot.

The ex-boyfriend and his new lover paddle a canoe while carrying heavy loads, while Qiao Xueshi sits in peaceful comfort aboard Jiang Lian's private yacht.

Viewers: Wait... Something really is wrong. Aren't they sworn enemies?

At night, Qiao Xueshi carries his pillow to Jiang Lian. “My idol, I'm afraid of the dark. Can I sleep with you?”

Jiang Lian (patting the bed, smiling): “Come on.”

Viewers: Am I watching a vicious variety show or a dating show?!

After making his ex-boyfriend and the new lover furious for the nth time, Qiao Xueshi, unaware that he's walked right into a trap, secretly congratulates himself: Jiang Lian's idea was great. Pretending to be a couple really showed those two lousy men.

Viewers who don't know the truth: I'm obsessed with the Jiang-Xue couple!

Only Jiang Lian smiles with hidden meaning.

The popular Best Actor Jiang Lian has a secret.

Since his student days, he has had a crush on Qiao Xueshi, the lead singer of a campus band.

He wrote songs for him, composed music for him, and auditioned for a role in Qiao Xueshi's favorite movie, becoming an actor.

But Qiao Xueshi has always hated him and opposed him at every turn.

Until one day, he hears that Qiao Xueshi was cheated on by his scumbag boyfriend and has joined a vicious variety show.

Without hesitation, he turns down every offer on his schedule and travels a thousand miles to the production team.

“What a small world.”

Hearing that sarcastic remark from Qiao Xueshi, he feels relieved. His crush is doing better than he expected.

Theme: Stay true to yourself through adversity and hardship.
