Roguish general gong x gentle opera performer shou
Because Meng Liansheng already knew what kind of lecherous scoundrel Xue Liang, the Governor-General of Sanjin, was, he had no desire to get close to him.
Xue Liang felt the same way. Meng Liansheng was a stuffy little prude who couldn’t take a joke, not his type at all. And he was a man, on top of that. Sure, he had an extraordinary face, and plenty of men and women coveted him in that way, but the idea of two men fooling around made Xue Liang uncomfortable. He wasn’t interested in the slightest.
But an unexpected turn of events forced Meng Liansheng to move into Xue Liang’s Governor-General’s residence on his master’s orders. He got another taste of just how indecent Xue Liang was: the man not only climbed through his window in the middle of the night, but tried to climb into his bed.
Though Meng Liansheng was an opera performer, he refused to flirt with a playboy. But amid Xue Liang’s repeated “darling” and every heartfelt word, he unwittingly let the man take root in his heart.
You say a playboy never changes. Then I’ll defy the odds and love one man alone.
You say you’re grateful to me. I insist you love me instead.
Come see the opera world flourish for a hundred years, as the general rides out to defend the woman he loves, their love lasting to the very end.
- Feel free to criticize, but please don’t offer writing advice.
Writing quality: Volume Four > Volumes Two and Three > Volume One (written at sixteen before I knew better, a cringeworthy dark history that makes me want to disappear. Sorry, everyone. Volume One has many flaws in its worldbuilding, so the alternate-universe bonus novel, Wind Over Bingzhou 1918, is complete with both leads’ firsts and a happy ending.)
Content warnings: Nine-year age gap; flawed leads; both were straight before they met; the gong is a widower with a son and becomes extremely love-addled later on. He is a widower with a son from a previous relationship, but has never been with a man.

Slow-paced, tender and gradual, bittersweet romance as a straight man is turned gay.
Romance-focused, not a serious historical drama, and only loosely related to actual history.
Two possible endings, but overall it’s still sweet.
Size difference, skin-tone difference.
Older man, rural life.
Theme: Sincerity, trust, devotion, wholehearted loyalty, and love that lasts until death.
I still look very embarrassed and childish [cover my face, laugh and cry] [cover my face, laugh and cry] I have tried my best to fix it [cover my face, laugh and cry] [cover my face, laugh and cry]
I feel that Xue Liang must have his reasons for defecting... But according to most of the articles I have read, the protagonist should still go to the revolution rather than participate in the warlord separatism (I don't know, I will make a guess here)
Why are you still an uncle and nephew? Hahahaha (I feel like Xue Liang's attitude towards him is completely different when he comes back from the war. Before, he felt that he was fighting against Lu, so why has he suddenly become well-behaved) (I don't know if it's because of his literary skills)
So sudden...
(And I really didn't expect the next sentence of this code, hahahahaha)
The background is actually the period of confrontation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party... It suddenly reached a climax (it's great that this is not a brainless love story, we can be saved!) 😆 This background coupled with JJ's mysterious review... Thanks to the teacher for your hard work!
This is a novel about the Republic of China that I picked up on JJ's filtering page last summer. It's a rare thing that's not time-traveling or a spoiled wife 🥺, and I didn't expect to watch it until now (sweating). It's so good, why are there so few people!
The teacher's modifications are also very nice 🥺[three-flowered cat head]
I see that Governor Xue also has a different feeling in his heart.
To this day, I still haven't figured out why I wanted to write a son for Xue Liang in the first place. What's more, the writing was so curious that it seemed like it was clattering down the stairs. Reading the first volume of Wu Zhi was like reading an article written by someone else. I still hate him. It's so curious. It turns out that I used to be so curious 😭
