Six years ago, when her uncle brought an army to force his way into the palace, Lin Seruo threw herself into the fray to fight for her young brother. She never imagined that becoming the regent princess would imprison her for the rest of her life.
Ten years ago, to save her gravely ill mother, Qi Yun disguised herself as a man to reunite with her father. She never imagined that one day she would do business, scheme, and seize power for the woman she loved.
They were supposed to stand on opposite ends of the chessboard, but step by step, they walked into each other's destinies.
"The Spring and Autumn Annals only record important matters." Who knows how much unspoken love there was among the spring dew and autumn frost of those years?
A refined financial heir who can switch between black and white x a cool, noble regent princess whose depths run still and deep
A true power couple. Real business warfare x political intrigue. Real battles of wits.
A few things up front:
1. The entire novel is complete and will update daily, barring unforeseen circumstances, at 7:30 a.m. It's perfect for passing the time during your commute. I've accepted that I can't make a living writing, so I'm just letting myself write whatever I want. That means it may not suit readers who like fast-paced stories and familiar tropes, so I apologize in advance...
2. This story focuses mainly on the plot. The plot takes up more space than the leads' romance, with romance making up about 35%-45% of each volume. I promise the sweet moments will be high quality, but there really aren't that many. If you're just here to see beautiful women being affectionate with each other, you may be disappointed... If you want that, try my other book, Dreaming of the Old Mountain. If it's not sweet, come beat me up.
3. The plot can often feel a little dense and dry. The political intrigue isn't the classic formula of "the protagonist is a nobody, but gathers evidence of powerful officials' misdeeds, reports them to the emperor, and takes them down." It's about struggles for power and balancing factions. Even supreme imperial authority is constrained by the bureaucratic system, with all its limits and frustrations. The business warfare isn't "the protagonist plays dumb, secretly invests or shorts the market, then suddenly lands a huge contract to humiliate the evil villain." On the micro level, it's about exchanging interests and non-zero-sum games; on the macro level, it's about Pareto improvements and using market mechanisms and financial capital to optimize resource allocation. I believe some readers will appreciate the payoff.
4. I can only promise that the story has sound values and no outrageous twists. I can't manage a more detailed list of content warnings for now, but I'll add them if I think of any. For now: there are quite a few male supporting characters, to reflect the objective realities of the ancient world. There are a few incidental straight romances, but they're not the focus. Godzilla bows down in apology again...
Reading is for fun, and meeting here is fate! Godzilla thanks everyone for clicking and following!
Promotion for the new book A Woman of Heart: This time I'm writing a Republican-era story for fun! The title comes from a Leslie Cheung song. Anita Mui's cover is especially good.
Blurb: What do you do when you regret giving away the rose you raised yourself?
As she knelt in the rain, she had no idea what shape fate would take when it came for her.
Later, when she remembered that day, that umbrella, and the words "Miss Yin," she finally understood that some encounters were meant to be from the very start.
"Was it helplessness, or intent? Like a mystery, like a play."
She brought her into the Yin residence, taught her how to dress and accessorize, took her for walks in the park, to the racetrack, and to drink coffee.
She also taught her how to keep accounts, read people's hearts, understand the situation, and recognize the stakes.
But when she was truly about to marry, she once again fell into the agony of that night her elder brother died, when someone else said they were leaving.
"So this is what it feels like to fall in love."
A gentle yet strong-willed, coming-of-age Republican-era young lady x a carefree, devoted, jade-faced Asura, the boss of a Green Gang
Nine-year age gap (16 and 25 when they meet)
Notes:
1. Updates are irregular. When I have chapters saved up, I'll update every day at 7 a.m.
2. This is an experiment. I'm trying to write an angsty story, but it's still unconventional. If you're coming for a particular type of story, you may be disappointed.
3. The leads are not both virgins, and there is a complicated relationship line. I'll add other content warnings if I think of any.
Theme: Join hands to build a better tomorrow
I don't understand why this article has so few collections. Maybe the literary talent is too profound. I remember when I was chasing articles last year, I read the first few articles and felt a little tired. I hope that this article will be read by more people and that the author can feel that the author put a lot of thought into creating it.
After reading the full text, I find it has many merits. The ancient writing skills are hard to match, the scene description is very strong, and the event narration is also remarkable. The shortcomings are mainly in character creation, perhaps because there are too many characters on the stage. Some characters always feel like they are facially labeled, and their behavioral motivations and changes are unnatural.
Ah ah ah ah, someone is thinking about Maomao and Tianjiang, our old dream mountain season 2 (knock on the bowl)
I really think the emperor's behavior is strange. It seems that he thinks his sister is very important, but when his sister was unconscious, he went to pamper the harem. After learning the truth, he easily let go of the murderer who almost killed his sister without being punished, and even though he didn't die, he didn't know what the sequelae were 😩 Then he was very upset that his sister did not inform Qi Yun of her daughter's identity in time, and made Qi Yun kneel for so long without saying anything. After telling her, there was no remedial measures for such a long time. Is it difficult to ask the palace attendants to deliver medicine? Later, the eunuch actually delivered the medicine when he left the palace. I always feel that I don't take Qi Yun seriously at all, let alone treat her as a family member. Whether to kill her or not depends mainly on Qi Yun's value in all aspects. Qi Yun has done so much for the country through life and death. Although his starting point is also for the princess, he still feels that it is extremely unworthy for her to be treated like this by the emperor.
Sure enough, the emperor must be a political animal. At this time, what he still cares about is who he is loyal to. They are wife and wife. The more I looked at it, the more frustrated I became. It was really a puddle of muddy water.
But Qi Yun's mother was really miserable before. . . Well
Starting from reading the questions without pen and paper, it suddenly seemed like a structured interview (
