When Xu Zhiqiu was three, his parents brought home a child who had been abandoned. They named him Xu Shixia.
That year, Xu Zhiqiu was eight and Xu Shixia was six. They were in a car accident on their way out to play. Their mother shielded them with her body and died in the crash.
