He had thought they were a nightmare, but he never expected such eyes to truly exist in this world: bright as water, timidly turned toward him, then hurriedly looking away, as if afraid or disgusted...

He pursued those eyes, wanting an answer to his nightmare and a chance to bring it to an end. But when the owner of those eyes finally stood before him, he felt afraid and wanted to run.

He watched her walk over and bow respectfully. "Lord Wei, thank you for helping me yesterday. This humble servant has no way to repay you."

Wei Mian sensed her distance and felt flustered, but his words came out colder still. "If you're thanking me, yesterday was hardly the only time."

Those eyes lowered, as if she were thinking. "What would Lord Wei like?"
