[Western Crossover] The Making of a Gu-Playing Band

It all began when five people who had almost nothing to do with one another received an invitation that seemed very much like a scam. After they were dragged into a strange space, a voice like a game system rang in their ears: "Hello! This is rather sudden, but could you and four other people form an idol band together? In return..."

"Huh?"

The superpowered employee at the dessert shop's register, Kusuo Saiki, stood firm. With an outstanding SAN score and godlike abilities, she quickly grasped the situation, only to fall apart even more because of it.

"Hey, did that bastard Dazai send you? Which organization are you an ability user from?"

The gravity manipulator from the Port Mafia gave a disdainful smile, doing his best to stay rational even as his entire worldview shook.

"Hmm... This message does seem a lot like a scam. But I don't seem to have any other choice, do I?"

The leader of a villainous band of thieves stared intently at the object in front of him with deep-set eyes, his lips curling with interest.

"I see. An unrealistic, yet tempting offer."

The demon in the land of ice pinched his chin, considering his options.

"I accept."

The Devil of Control sat upright on the sofa, stroking the head of the family dog.

A month later, the most terrifying idol band in history was formed.

Mad Messiah, a rock band with a chuunibyou style, had a remarkably smooth ride from assembling its members to its first live show and signing with a record label. After officially debuting with an album, they shot to fame thanks to their solid talent and the members' looks and personalities. They even got a rhythm game set in a fictional world based on the members, then went on to appear on all kinds of shows and in films and TV dramas. The gossip surrounding them included plenty of explosive revelations.

What? The vocalist, Nakahara Chuuya, is a rebellious rich kid who'll have to go back and inherit the family business if he can't make it as a musician?

What? The keyboardist, Dazai, and the guitarist, Chrollo, were actually members of the same symphony orchestra?

What? The bassist, Ms. Makima, graduated from the police academy?

What? The drummer, Kusuo Saiki, is a Cambridge student? And her older brother is a superhero in the US???

"Holy crap, what kind of god-tier idol band have I become a fan of?"

"No wonder they're called Mad Messiah. Every single one of them is a god-level figure."

"Did they really need to form an idol band? For real, any one of them could've succeeded on their own..."

"So the game's over-the-top plot is based on real life after all."

"Wow, they're amazing. I want to get into them."

"To the person above! You won't regret it! The music is great, the stars themselves are gorgeous, there's tons of crossover merch, the spin-off games and shows are all highly praised, and there's so much CP content to enjoy. Plus, both the official creators and the fan community are great at giving every pairing its fair share, so it's almost impossible to go hungry! This is a one-of-a-kind fandom, ahhhhh!"

Every day, fans went wild over these perfect idols.

Only, in reality, all five of them had some dangerous little secrets. Not that dangerous, really. At most, they might accidentally upset the balance of the world... As for how they would protect their secrets while constantly testing each other and revealing their cards, and what they truly felt about their teammates, only they knew.

This is an ensemble cast! This is OOC! This is a shattered, crooked worldview! This is weird crack shipping! This is a fantastical plot! This is a ridiculously messy web of relationships! This is an evil System! This is a dangerously thin dimensional wall! Hahaha! I won't apologize if it gives you whiplash!

Also, A-J can't describe how chaotic the CPs are. There'll probably be BL, BG, GL, and GB. How much of it is real is up to your imagination!

*Contains lots of stitched-together Paro and AU stories within the story. I'm writing those on a whim too, whenever I feel like it!

*The plot and setting are also whatever I feel like! Logic has been completely thrown out, so don't take it too seriously.
