Xiaoyu's Terrifying Online Friends [Jackie Chan Adventures] [Hunter X Hunter]
小玉的恐怖网友们【成龙历险记】【全职猎人】
by Ji Heng (极恒)
Synopsis
[Advance notice: This will be the next book.] To get his niece Xiaoyu to settle down and keep to herself, instead of constantly interrupting his "work," Jackie Chan made an unprecedented plea for help from his good friend Black. With Black's full support, Jackie obtained the latest technology, freshly developed by Section 13: a touchscreen phone still in the testing phase.
Jackie could hardly wait to hand it over to Xiaoyu.
In an era when everyone used pagers, owning a cutting-edge touchscreen phone was obviously incredibly cool! So even though Xiaoyu knew perfectly well that this was her Uncle Chan's "sugar-coated bullet," she couldn't resist its sweet coating.
She solemnly agreed to her uncle's demands and laid down three rules with him: she couldn't interrupt him while he was on a mission anymore; she couldn't play on the phone before finishing her schoolwork; and she absolutely could not take a phone that shouldn't exist in this era to school and show it to anyone.
If Xiaoyu was caught breaking any of these rules, her uncle would take the phone back without mercy and destroy it, so she could never use it again.
Xiaoyu would never let that happen. Jackie thought smugly.
He was finally "free"!
At this point, Jackie thought everything would go smoothly from then on. But he never imagined that after getting the phone, his niece would bring him even bigger problems.
On the very first day with her new phone, Xiaoyu, bursting with the urge to show off, excitedly opened the hottest fully anonymous social app in the country, "Some Q," and used random search to join a group called "Twelve-Legged Spider."
"I have a treasure that nobody else in the world has!" Xiaoyu typed away. She hadn't even gotten into the group yet, but she was already laying the groundwork for her upcoming boast!
Her request to join was approved instantly.
Although her later conversation with the group members had practically nothing to do with the phone, after a "friendly exchange" with them, Xiaoyu was satisfied and temporarily muted and closed the group chat so she could do her homework, paying no attention to the group members, who were still full of questions, curiosity, and anger.
The next day, Xiaoyu found a pile of friend requests in her list.
Not just anyone could become her friend!
She carefully sifted through them, then picked out someone with a handsome-guy profile picture: big, round cat eyes, long, straight black hair, a super distinctive outfit covered in studs, and an inexplicably gloomy air. He looked so cool!
Xiaoyu accepted his friend request, and after a "pleasant" exchange...
On the third day, the cool guy pulled Xiaoyu into a "roleplay" group for an assassin family.
And so, many days passed without Jackie ever noticing what Xiaoyu was up to.
One day, as Jackie was walking down the street, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure: his niece Xiaoyu was holding hands with a white-haired boy who looked a little older than her, standing in front of a shop window and pointing at the goods inside. They seemed very close.
The bread and jam in Jackie's hands dropped to the ground with a slap.
No! No! His niece was only eleven! This wasn't puppy love, it was a crime!
"Hey! You with the white hair, let go of the girl next to you!" Jackie charged over angrily, only to be knocked flat by one move from the startled boy.
Jackie, who had no idea he was known as the weapons master, the king of the furniture store, and even a superhero, was questioning his whole life.
He practiced martial arts every day. He hadn't gotten any weaker. Were kids these days really this terrifying?
But that wasn't the end of it.
Jackie discovered that Xiaoyu wasn't just hanging around with a white-haired boy. A few adult "potential criminals" with unclear intentions also kept showing up around her.
A man in a fine suit, handsome, exceptionally elegant, yet somehow unsettling.
An "oddity" dressed in bright clothes covered with studs, conspicuous, taciturn, and frightening, with eyes like black holes.
A red-haired madman in a clown suit, with an absurd level of fighting ability.
A tall, cold-hearted blond with a sunny baby face.
And someone whose age was unknown, who moved incredibly fast and always wore a black cloak that covered half their face.
There were too many strange people to list them all, but they all gave Jackie the same feeling: danger.
He was almost certain they all had some kind of ulterior motive.
And the danger that followed proved his suspicions right...
