If anyone had ever told a certain liquor-company workaholic that whether his gun hit its target depended not on his marksmanship but on luck, he'd have sent the insolent fool packing straight to the afterlife.
But now, for reasons he hadn't quite figured out, that had become reality.
The workaholic looked at his teammates beside him:
Two snipers had critically failed their firearms rolls, causing their guns to backfire and knock them unconscious.
His own underling was the only one in the party with a Persuasion skill (which was actually Charm), and now had to talk to an NPC despite being completely out of his depth.
A famous actress had critically failed her Dodge roll and ended up hanging from the window. (Fortunately, she passed her Luck check.)
Two bottles of whiskey were locked in a Brawl contest, trading blows evenly.
A famous phantom thief had critically failed his Sleight of Hand roll. He'd managed to grab something, but couldn't get his hand out of the NPC's bag.
And an elementary school student had nearly critically failed Spot Hidden, Stealth, and Listen, but had critically succeeded at Throw. He'd knocked an NPC unconscious and now didn't know what to do.
The workaholic silently looked at the roll results displayed before him.
[First Aid: D100 = 96/60, Critical Failure]
The key NPC lying on the ground spat out a mouthful of blood. Even the teammates, who'd been having one disaster after another, quieted down a little.
...Let's just end the world.

◆Reader's Guide◆
1. This is a Detective Conan role-playing game AU. The author will write as they roll the dice after finishing the scenario. Everything is at the dice maiden's discretion.
2. I'm trying to write a story with both slapstick comedy and tactical mind games. There may be logic bugs, and there will definitely be OOC moments.
3. More to come. The author's still working on the outline...
Theme: Believe in yourself and your teammates (smile).
