The day he died, the entire ghost realm knelt before him and called him their lord.
Shen Ya looked at the ghosts, each dead in a different way, and nearly burst into tears. He'd thought he could survive by keeping his head down, until a gleaming sword appeared at his throat.
"Divine One, spare me."
"Stop pretending, Shen Xingzhi."
He'd even been mistaken for someone else's enemy... Did it matter? Was he going to die either way?
Only when he used the Divine One's face to do whatever he pleased did he see his own expression nearly crack. Oh dear, it seemed his death was drawing even closer. But with twenty years of life experience behind him, he had invented a set of survival tactics.
For example:
The Divine One fans the flames, I add fuel.
The Divine One kills, I clean up.
The Divine One kisses me, I...?
The Divine One is a little irritable.
After Tianshu vanished into the wilderness, he awoke with barely a thought in his mind. He was supposed to be the cold, iron-hearted Divine One spoken of by all the gods, yet he had only one thought: He had to find Shen Xingzhi. Whether it was longing or hatred, he couldn't tell.
He remembered Shen Xingzhi killing someone he cared about with a single sword stroke. He remembered Shen Xingzhi pursuing him again and again. It only made him more and more irritable.
"Shen Xingzhi, I've come to take your life."
Later, he held those hands as they slowly grew cold. They were sticky with blood, which bloomed into a bewitching flower. And above it was the one he'd lost.
"Shen Xingzhi, I've come to marry you."
Bonus scene:
Shen Ya had always been fond of smiling. Even as he stood at the endless entrance to the cycle of reincarnation, he looked up at the lofty Divine One with a smile. "You've been searching for so long. Can you tell who you're looking for?"
Tianshu said nothing.
A thousand years ago, on top of the wall, a white-robed youth called out to him.
The youth asked, "Who are you?"
Looking at that young face, Shen Ya couldn't help but smile bitterly.
So it was me.
It was always me.
But why couldn't you recognize me?
Note:
1. A talkative, timid bottom x an irritable, secretly affectionate top
2. One-on-one romance, no substitute identity plot
3. This follows my previous novel's Black Moonlight character concept, but the plot is independent. You're welcome to save it.
Theme: No matter when, have the courage to swim against the current
