Deadpan, black-hearted slacker heroine x loyal, proper-on-the-surface hero
[New serial: The Scorned Girl Refuses to Become the Savior]
Zhuang Liangyu transmigrated into a book.
She became the daughter of Grand Tutor Zhuang of the Great Yong dynasty, destined to be a jealous imperial consort who would later be killed by the new emperor with a cup of poisoned wine.
So she decided to lie flat, stay away from the plot, and quietly focus on academic pursuits with her father at the Imperial Academy.
But her leisurely days didn't last long. An imperial decree declared that seventeen-year-old Zhuang Liangyu would marry General Xiao, making her the envy of countless young women in the capital.
Having spent seventeen years lying flat at the Imperial Academy with her father, Zhuang Liangyu decided she ought to do something with her life.
So she rolled over and prepared to keep lying flat at General Xiao's residence.
But she never expected General Xiao to be so devoted to his family and clingy with his wife that he insisted on taking her along even when he went south to provide disaster relief.
With starving corpses everywhere and countless refugees, Zhuang Liangyu couldn't stand to watch, so she dusted off her old skills and led people toward prosperity.
She was a little too successful, and ended up taking her father's place as the only female director of the Imperial Academy in the Great Yong dynasty. Looking at all the young scholars, who only knew how to quote the classics and scheme for power, she said:
Zhuang Liangyu: "Today, let's start by writing a proper literature review, then hold a group meeting to discuss everyone's recent research on the Four Books and Five Classics!"
The students, whose hands were sore from writing, were terrified of group meetings and literature reviews, and switched from the humanities to engineering.
Zhuang Liangyu: "A paper should be written on the land itself. What use is a paper that has never been tested in practice? It's like a cat that's never caught a mouse in its life."
So the students who had only ever studied theory rushed out into the wide world to test their strategies for governing the nation.
The court was awash in blood and intrigue, while a gentle breeze and drizzle blew through the classroom.
Princes rebelled, aristocratic clans plotted revolt, and the empire teetered on the brink of collapse. Would they turn the tide?
When everything had finally settled, someone asked what she had done it all for.
Zhuang Liangyu said, "To hold group meetings, and to hold good group meetings without distractions."
The students eavesdropping nearby wailed in despair, but the court and the people were thriving, and everything was getting better.
At first, Xiao Qinzhou only wanted to give his wife something to do, so she wouldn't spend all day shut away in the inner quarters thinking only about romance.
But he never expected her to be so ambitious that she rose to the top in no time.
The first day, General Xiao waited eagerly for his wife to come home for dinner...
The second day, General Xiao sent someone to bring his wife home for dinner...
The third day, General Xiao went straight to the Imperial Academy to cling to his wife!
If he didn't make himself noticed, his wife might forget she even had a husband!
Twelve years ago, beneath apricot blossoms in a gentle spring rain, a little girl had already found her way into Xiao Qinzhou's heart.
All the years since then had been part of his careful design...
As for the future emperor, who had initially only wanted to use Zhuang Liangyu, he could only stand atop the palace tower and watch from afar as the general and his wife walked away together.
He had planned it all, never imagining he would make someone else's life complete...
Theme: Your fate belongs to you
I didn't expect this story to end so quickly, it felt like I had just watched it.
I read the whole story again last night, watching Xiaozhuang and Xiao Qinzhu get married, watching her show her talents little by little, and then use her knowledge and power to change the fate of many people.
It really made me cry. When I look back on the whole story, I see Xiaozhuang, who was just happy and content with the situation at the beginning, being driven by fate to change the people around him. After seeing the suffering, he became optimistic and positive. I really hope I can become a confident, strong and willful person like Xiaozhuang.
What moved me the most was actually when the male protagonist realized that Xiaozhuang was a martyr who could sacrifice himself for his ideals. I seemed to empathize and feel the sadness of the male protagonist for a moment.
This is one of the few stories I have seen where even though the heroine has a love rival or "enemies" with various positions, it is not cleared up in the end, but it can still make people understand many of the characters. At first, I hated the old emperor and the fourth prince. I thought one was treacherous and the other was insidious. But in the end, I saw that the old emperor was eager to win even before he died, and I saw the cooperation between the fourth prince and the heroine after realizing the problems in this society. Although I still don't like these two people, I understand a little more.
I also saw that Princess Luochuan was as arrogant as ever, but she became more and more lovable. She used to be tit-for-tat with Xiaozhuang, but now she became the first female scout. I saw that the original heroine was struggling in her relationship, but she clearly understood that the wrong person was the fourth prince.
If I were to tell you, this is not the change that Xiaozhuang brought about by holding a group meeting in the Imperial College, but that she used the Imperial Academy to promote the development of the entire society in order to hold a group meeting.
As Xiaozhuang himself said, for the jealousy of the group meeting, he made the dumplings of the Imperial College.
At this point, I would also like to express my appreciation for the author's ingenious ideas when writing dialogues. Many of the dialogues between the characters have deep meanings. There are just the right trials and confrontations between the characters. While feeling the undercurrent, there is a hint of cold humor. Xiaozhuang's white and black are implemented as always.
The heroine does not have a golden finger in the popular sense. Her biggest golden finger is her own knowledge. She uses knowledge rationally, starting from a small place and affecting the entire era. The impact and process of each step of change are written in great detail. It is a great story!
Hope there will be more extras! Take a big break and look forward to the next story!
