Su Jinnian loved to arch his peach-blossom eyes and open his arms to the silent Chu Wang, as if waiting for a lost puppy to find its way home.

Until, one day, the puppy grew into a wolfhound, bit him, and pinned him beneath himself, watching him die in despair amid endless agony.

Reborn, Su Jinnian finally saw things differently.

He decided to avoid any connection with Chu Wang from the very beginning.

Yet somehow, things never went according to plan.

On the rainy night when he was supposed to take Chu Wang in, Su Jinnian slept soundly at home, only to find Chu Wang, soaked through, collapsed outside his door for no apparent reason.

He lowered his eyes and nudged Chu Wang, who had passed out with a fever, with his foot. "Move. A good dog doesn't block the way."

Chu Wang pushed himself up and crawled one step aside. "...Sorry."

As an outstanding senior student in charge of recruitment, Su Jinnian tore Chu Wang's application into shreds in front of him.

Propping his arm up, he raised an eyebrow. "The admission requirements aren't just for show. My school doesn't take in useless people."

Chu Wang crouched and carefully picked up every scrap of paper. "It's my fault. Don't get angry. Your health can't take it."

Su Jinnian worked in the lab until he collapsed and was hospitalized, but when he returned to campus, he found Chu Wang had somehow enrolled anyway.

He splashed a glass of water in Chu Wang's face. "Pulling strings, Chu Wang? How shameless can you get?"

Chu Wang calmly refilled his glass. "I'm shameless, but you can't be left without anyone to look after you."

Six months later, Su Jinnian had a heart attack and struggled amid a jumble of memories.

As Chu Wang approached, he grabbed a scalpel and held it to his neck. "Come any closer... and I'll kill you."

This time, Chu Wang didn't obey.

He let the scalpel slice into his skin and, amid the smell of blood, kissed Su Jinnian and forced his medicine into his mouth.

Chu Wang's eyes were bloodshot. "Su Jinnian, you are not allowed to die in front of me again."

Su Jinnian was silent for a moment, then his peach-blossom eyes slowly curved into a smile. "Chu Wang, have you never heard that a doctor can't heal himself?"
