Snow on an Overcast Day

1.

Shen Sui'an is the only son of the Shen family. At 190 cm, he's handsome enough to be the campus heartthrob.

But his family kept him under strict control from childhood, so he has always reined himself in.

At twenty-two, he has never been in a relationship.

Lately, people have been saying there's a young girl by his side, fresh back from overseas.

She's 160 cm tall, eighteen years old, and a sweet little China-Japan mix.

The sweetheart herself looks pure and adorable, and she's exceptionally good at seducing people.

It's as if she's stained her hands with the tears of countless boys,

and she treats men with an almost careless ease.

Shen Sui'an doesn't like girls like that.

But since she'd been abandoned by her family as a child, and was delicate and starved for affection,

he couldn't help showing extra care to the person who was always deliberately clinging to him.

2.

Recently, the Shen and Lin families have been preparing to join their families through marriage.

The two families have been close for generations, and this match is the first to begin with Shen Sui'an.

In outsiders' eyes, Shen Sui'an and the Lin family's eldest daughter are a match made in heaven.

But some perceptive people say she's not the sort of person he likes at all.

He already has someone he likes: she's stunning, incredibly good at acting cute,

and loves treating him like a dog.

Everyone cries out in shock and asks if he likes that sort of girl. He denies it,

and never lets a hint of a flaw slip when faced with their suspicions.

Until one of his friends stares at his neck and says in an ambiguous tone, "You've hidden it well."

Shen Sui'an pauses, then says nothing,

but this time he can't hide the red marks on his neck.

3.

In winter, the prominent families gather, and the Shen and Lin families take the opportunity to discuss the wedding.

But Shen Sui'an, who has always followed the rules, wanders around for a while,

leaves his fiancée behind, and vanishes in an instant.

Not long afterward, someone finds him in the back garden.

What they see leaves them utterly stunned.

Night falls, and the winter wind howls.

The man is crouched at her feet, warming them.

A closer look reveals that she's the Lin family's abandoned younger daughter.

With his eyes lowered, the man holds her foot in his hands.

After kissing it, he murmurs in a low, hoarse voice, "Baby, are you still cold?"

She clings to him and shakes her head, then deliberately puts on a pitiful look. "Your sister's still looking for you."

His lips remain beside her ear as he whispers, "Let her look. I'm looking for you."

4.

People say Shen Sui'an has always been gentle and even-tempered,

a handsome, good-natured god of a man perched high above everyone else.

It wasn't until he met Yingling

that he realized the kindness he'd shown for years was false. His divine nature soon fell into ruin.

Later, people said this was simply who he really was, and that he couldn't control himself.

But he wanted to say that he was willing, too.

The first word of the opening line was "heart," straight from his heart.

Because from then on, his divine nature fell, and she became the flowers of the mortal world.

"She's a dark cloud."

- No, she's white snow.

- White snow on an overcast day.
