Ye Zhaohe had just transmigrated into a world of immortal cultivation when she became a celestial goose. Not a celestial maiden, but an actual... big white goose.
She was the mascot of the Yuling Sect, also known as the senior sister of all the sect's disciples. Whenever the disciples walked to and from class, men and women alike loved to stroke her plump white wings and respectfully call her "Senior Sister." Some even had tears of gratitude in their eyes.
A hundred years passed like this. The sect leader who'd once called her a spiritual creature that might take human form and ascend had retired and gone wandering, but Ye Zhaohe still hadn't transformed into a human. By then, though, she'd grown used to life as a goose and felt that lying flat for the rest of her life would make for a perfectly complete goose life.
She had status, food, and affection. Every day, she could lie flat and sunbathe, or swim in the immortal lake and flap her wings. Life couldn't be better.
Until one day, she ran down the mountain to chase a thief and was captured by a desperate young man. He tied her up from head to toe, sprinkled her with seasoning, and was about to roast her. To save her own life, Ye Zhaohe transformed into a human for the first time, rolling around and hugging herself as she trembled. "You can't eat me! I'm a spiritual creature! I have powerful backing, too. Have you heard of the Yuling Immortal Sect? If you eat me, they'll be so jealous they'll bleed from their eyes, and they'll come after you!"
Perhaps he'd heard of the great sect's reputation, but she could clearly see... disappointment in the young man's eyes.
Then he fainted from hunger right in front of her.
Peace had reigned across the four seas and the nine provinces for many years. Yunhua, an immortal who had already ascended, received a mission to descend to the mortal realm and find promising candidates for ascension, adding a new recruit to Heaven's support staff.
He looked all around the now most famous Yuling Sect, then fixed his gaze on a glowing speck. According to his immortal sight, it was the most gifted cultivator there. He leaned closer, rubbed his eyes, and couldn't believe that the most gifted person in the entire sect was a... big white goose?
He kept his composure. All things have a spirit. A goose it is, then. With his help, it would surely become an immortal! So he set up trial after trial, and even accidentally lost his own magic. Finally, an accident managed to spur the big white goose into taking human form. She turned out to be a rather plump little girl.
After that, he insisted on following her back to the sect, supervising and pushing her to practice day and night... His dream was shattered before long.
He couldn't understand why a goose wanted him to call her Hehe, much less why her true form wasn't a salted fish!
Much, much later, Xiche gave up. He said to Ye Zhaohe in a weary voice, "Forget it. You only live once. Just be happy."
He indulged her love of food, sleeping in, and all her other bad habits, until a sweet, puppy-like junior brother started hanging around her. Xiche exploded and stormed over to the goose girl. "You're so young. Why are you dating?"
Zhaohe: "?"
Dude, she's three hundred years old!
Much later, Zhaohe finally remembered to ask the young man who'd been sticking by her side for his name. He raised an eyebrow. "My name is Xiche."
Xiche... She remembered that the peerless genius who ascended when their sect was founded, the one who established it, had the same name. Did that mean the person she had a crush on was her master's founding ancestor?
Ye Zhaohe hurriedly shook her head. It was definitely just a coincidence!
