The First Emperor of Qin Secretly Fell for Me

That winter, heavy snow fell as Princess Mi Yi of Chu and her brother were sent to Zhao as hostages. In Handan, she met a slender young boy.

His mother had tried and failed to stage an accident, and was knocked to the ground and injured by Mi Yi's carriage. Her brother then sent people to beat her severely.

When her brother returned, he said smugly, “We're both hostages, but he's living a much more miserable life than we are!”

Mi Yi sensed something was wrong. She pulled out the book she always carried and began searching through it. “Zhao, hostage. If we rule out that idiot Yan Dan, then the only one left is...”

Mi Yi broke into a cold sweat. “What's his name?!”

Her brother furrowed his brow, trying to remember. “I think it was... Zhao Zheng...”

In 247 BC, King Zheng of Qin ascended the throne.

Almost everyone believed that Mi Yi, who was fabulously wealthy, had once offended the King of Qin, and was therefore destined to die by being torn apart by chariots.

Who could have guessed that the tide would turn? The new King of Qin actually took Mi Yi by the hand to a banquet in the palace and declared, “I intend to make this woman of Chu my queen. Who agrees, and who objects?”

The ministers looked at one another but dared not speak. Just as he thought victory was in his grasp, Mi Yi turned against him at the last moment. “I object!”

The news sent all six states into an uproar.
