Tong Jingxue transmigrated into the body of the number-one villainous official in the fictional Great Liang Dynasty.
The old, incompetent emperor held all the power, yet Tong Jingxue had him wrapped around his finger. He practically ran the court, abusing his authority, manipulating his superiors and subordinates, and acting with reckless arrogance. He didn't even take the Crown Prince seriously.
On top of that, Imperial Censor Tong Jingxue had one fatal weakness: he was frail and weak, a pampered body that couldn't take the slightest exertion or hardship.
Officials throughout Great Liang had cursed Tong Jingxue behind his back, wishing he would die as soon as possible. Yet they had to admit that, for all the rot inside, he was a treasure on the outside. He was exceptionally beautiful, with picturesque features and a smile as radiant as spring, incomparable beneath the heavens.
Later in the story, the Crown Prince, Zhao Jingjun, would bide his time and bring him down in one fell swoop, then subject him to every kind of cruel torture, leaving him unable to live or die.
Tong Jingxue glanced at his villain's script and smiled faintly. Since things had come to this, he might as well have some fun with His Highness the Crown Prince. :)
Everyone at court knew that the gloomy Crown Prince hated Tong Jingxue, the number-one villainous official. Once the Crown Prince took the throne, he was sure to make Tong Jingxue suffer terribly.
Yet after Zhao Jingjun ascended the throne, Tong Jingxue was not thrown into prison. Instead, he became even more favored than he had been under the late emperor, strutting around the entire palace and held close to the new emperor's heart.
The ministers who had supported the Crown Prince fell silent. Could they have misunderstood Tong Jingxue? Maybe he wasn't a treacherous official, but a bewitching imperial consort!
