Everyday Life of Two Sickly Childhood Friends: Slow-Paced Variety Show and Pure Romance

Xu Mu and Lin Zhibei grew up together and officially started dating after the college entrance exams. A few days later, the wealthy Lin family from the capital came to claim Lin Zhibei as their own and took him away. Xu Mu and Lin Zhibei lost touch after that.

They met again when the crew of the show "At Fengqing Village" came to film in Xu Mu’s village. The famous actor Lin Zhibei was a guest on the show, while Xu Mu was an ordinary villager who lived there.

Caught off guard by the sight of his once-glamorous childhood friend and ex-boyfriend, Xu Mu’s first instinct was to run. But Lin Zhibei fled even faster, panicking so badly that he crashed into the very pig Xu Mu had been searching for.

Xu Mu was furious. Lin Zhibei was actually avoiding him?

Xu Mu marched over. “You hit a pig and now you’re trying to run? Get out!”

Lin Zhibei got out of the car and stood before Xu Mu, tall and handsome. “I didn’t hit a pig. I saw you and ran.”

Xu Mu scoffed. “Am I going to eat you?”

Lin Zhibei nodded. “You can, as long as you’ll talk to me.”

"At Fengqing Village" became a smash hit as soon as it aired.

Later, the winds drifted across Hat Mountain. The two of them picked flowers in spring and mushrooms in summer, chased cattle and sheep, and even got swept into the air along with a tent by a strong wind… Big names from the entertainment industry flocked to the village, only to be transformed into “old farmers” in no time.

On camera, their everyday life together, their meals, the changing seasons, their cats and dogs, and the warmth they shared with the villagers and friends, made the show the year’s biggest variety hit.

1. Xu Mu, a sunny-looking person with depression (the receiving partner) × Lin Zhibei, with high-functioning emotional emptiness (the pursuing partner). Childhood sweethearts reunited after being separated, with the pursuer suffering from amnesia after their separation and recovering his memories later. One-on-one romance, they’re endgame, no switching or reversal, no children. No real-life inspiration. Modern alternate universe where same-sex marriage is legal.

2. The names, core trope, and character concepts are unchanged. The blurb and chapters 1–9 have been rewritten, so comments on the first nine chapters may no longer match. There’s a chance comments will be turned off six months after completion.
