[Third-person narration]
When I was little, my mother told me that I was frail and sickly, with a gentle disposition, so I had to choose a good wife who could manage the family estate and, one day, oversee my harem.
I thought Mother made a lot of sense, so I set my sights on the eldest young master of the Chancellor’s residence.
He was gentle and courteous, and one of the best scholars at the Imperial College.
The more I looked at him, the more I liked him. At last, I found a chance to ask, “Would you be my Crown Princess?”
But he kept going on about propriety and moral principles, things I couldn’t understand, and even went out of his way to avoid me.
Later, I heard he had fallen ill and died on his way to take up a post in the provinces.
I was heartbroken for quite a while, but all I could do was redouble my efforts to find a second wife.
This time, I took a fancy to the sturdy young heir of the Marquis’s household. He was strong and powerful, so surely he wouldn’t die of illness.
I worked up my courage and asked him, “Would you be my Crown Princess?”
He gazed at me for a long while, then took my hand and said yes, but told me to wait five years.
When he returned from the frontier, quelled the rebellion, and earned his military honors, he would come and marry me.
But I didn’t even have to wait five years. He died on the battlefield the following year.
I was devastated and couldn’t eat a thing all day. Thankfully, my good friend, the Fourth Prince, stayed by my side.
Little by little, I came out of the gloom and swore that the Fourth Prince and I would be the best of friends for life.
Then he suddenly kissed me and said he wanted to be my Crown Princess.
I recoiled in horror.
Sure enough, before long, he too was cursed to death by me.
I had cursed three Crown Princesses to death in a row. With a fate as ominous as mine, I didn’t want to bring misfortune to anyone else.
On the day of my coronation, I never expected the three dead men to appear before me.
They crawled toward me through mountains of corpses and blood.
They demanded, “Just who are you going to choose as your Crown Princess?”
A frail, sickly, easygoing Crown Prince x Crown Princess candidates with all kinds of personalities, each a ruthless overachiever
[Please Read Before Starting]
1. A harem of admirers and a chaotic love rivalry; a beloved-by-all story.
2. It’s probably a historical child-rearing story, with lots of scenes from childhood. The love interests and the protagonist grew up together as childhood friends.
3. What I want to write is a rebel minister, a chief councilor, and a general stationed beyond the borders, while the protagonist sits forever in the great hall and the court remains forever secure.
4. An easygoing protagonist’s growth from Crown Prince to Emperor.
5. I wanted to read a story like this so badly that I had to write one myself.
6. More to come.
Theme: Growing up healthy and happy.
