Shu Cheng spent three years slacking off at university, and got his comeuppance just before graduation. The double pressure of graduating and finding a job was practically unbearable. His only little bit of happiness each day came from opening Genshin Impact in the middle of the night and using his fully built, complete-roster characters to tear through the open world, punch Abyss Mages, and kick adorable Slimes.
As a player who cared about builds, he would rather go hungry and cold than leave a character underbuilt, and poured money into the game without hesitation. He thought he could play forever in Teyvat, but one day he turned on his computer and discovered...
The game he'd spent countless nights grinding away at had just disappeared!
He felt betrayed.
"What the heck?!"
Even more absurdly, the next morning, he woke to the sound of someone knocking at the door.
He rented a shabby apartment in a forgotten corner of the city. There was no property manager or security guard, so the only people who knocked were delivery workers and milkmen.
With a toothbrush in his mouth, he opened the door and saw a golden-haired boy standing outside.
"Hello, who are you looking for?" The boy looked awfully familiar.
"Hello, I'm the Traveler from Teyvat. My name is Aether."
What should you do if you find a weak, pitiful, helpless Traveler? That's a good question.
Shu Cheng loses his battle of wills with Aether, who gazes at him pitifully. Thinking of the characters he'd worked so hard to build, he frowns, forms the System Restoration Alliance with Aether, and draws up a comprehensive plan.
"So if we complete the tasks in the notebook and restore the characters' friendship levels, the game will come back?" Shu Cheng warms up a cup of milk and asks after taking a sip. "The money I spent won't be affected, right?"
"That should be the case," Paimon answers seriously.
Aether is just as confused. He has no idea what happened. All he knows is that a spacetime upheaval occurred in Teyvat. When he woke up, he was surrounded by darkness, and a voice that sounded like Paimon's was guiding him to repair the changes to Teyvat.
Following the directions in the only thing he owns, a luxurious leather-bound notebook that doubles as a map, he finally knocks on Shu Cheng's door.
"Please help me save Teyvat."
Aether x Original Male Protagonist
(A few words about the younger-man pairing: there are slight spoilers, based on details I've made up about whether Teyvat and the characters in the game exist in the real world. Aether's age will be explained later, and he isn't actually five hundred years old :D You can leave that question hanging for now. Wham! Smack!)
A warm, sweet little story!
There are original details, original details, original details! Repeating it three times because it's important!
If you don't like that, please remember to leave. It'll be better for everyone, okay!
Teyvat's technology is set at the level of a magical world that can use elemental powers, not one powered by technology!
The whole cast of Teyvat will appear.
(Mostly platonic and familial relationships.)
Theme: Care about the people around you
Ah, I suddenly received a rebate, won't I change it?
I always feel that Elhaysen has guessed the clues with his own wisdom.
Speaking of which, it feels like as a god, it disappears faster... It's very painful!!!!
Did Brother Hai notice something?
Hhhh The three missing ones are Kawei, Elhaysen and Sano.
Sano: Brand guys never give in
Paimon Internet surfing is at the forefront of the times.
Oh my gosh, why don't you put up a leave request note next time?
Have you recovered your memory? Didn't he even find the Eye of God????
Tip!! My tip!!! Shine bright——
