Winning the Championship by Bluffing [Mecha]

Lu Zhixing is widely recognized as a genius at the Alliance Military Academy.

There's one other person just as famous: Chi Yaojing.

They're both among the finest mech pilots of the new generation.

Both are exceptionally gifted and full of potential, like the sun and moon shining together while the stars fade into the background.

But Lu Zhixing and Chi Yaojing can't stand each other. They aren't even on nodding terms.

Others think Chi Yaojing is too cold and antisocial.

Lu Zhixing thinks Chi Yaojing is a bit of a sanctimonious phony.

Just as Lu Zhixing is making bold claims for the cameras, saying that some little vixen doesn't matter to him at all,

he turns eighteen, presents as an Omega, and finds that he can't resonate with mechs...

For a mech pilot who relies on resonance to sense their machines, this is a devastating blow.

To keep competing, Lu Zhixing has no choice but to lie and claim he's a Beta, saying an injury has left him unable to compete.

And so the once bold and spirited young man becomes the team's "bench warmer and water boy," enduring endless mockery.

Then Lu Zhixing dies in an accident.

He thinks he's gone for good, but when he opens his eyes again, he's in a cryogenic pod!

And it's three hundred years later!

Three hundred years have passed. The Alliance has long since dissolved, and his former classmates have gone their separate ways.

Even stranger, he discovers that as an Omega, he can resonate with mechs after all!

Even if only weakly.

So Lu Zhixing claps his hands and decides to return to mech competitions.

Just then, an obscure little club on Shengdu Star invites him, and he accepts without hesitation!

But when he gets there, he sees the whole club has only seven members.

Not a single Alpha. Two old-timers and four kids, and the owner is deaf.

Worse still...

Lu Zhixing squints at the deaf owner, thinking he looks familiar.

The deaf owner looks up too, and their eyes meet. "..."

Good news: His longtime rival didn't become a genius from the heavens. Instead, he's become disabled.

Bad news: I'm half-disabled too.

Even worse news: We two old cripples have to team up and compete against young people in their prime.

Faced with this situation,

Lu Zhixing: "...Actually, sitting on the bench isn't so bad."

The two stare at each other in silence for a long time.

Lu Zhixing suddenly realizes that at least one of them has age on his side.

So he suggests tracking down their old schoolmates and teammates to compete together.

Chi Yaojing, who hasn't spoken a word in ages, finally says, "Are you sure?"

It doesn't take long for Lu Zhixing to understand what Chi Yaojing means.

The Alliance dissolved in a civil war back then. The military academy classmates who once trained and bragged together have long since gone their separate ways, each fighting for a different side.

There is no friendship left between them. They're lucky if they meet and don't start fighting.

And yet.

Who could have guessed that this team of old warhorses, bickering and fighting as they play, constantly at each other's throats, would punch A1 in the face to seize mech fragments, kick C3 aside to fight over a shield, and cheat their way straight to the gold cup!

Lu Zhixing always thought there were no Alphas on the team.

Until one time, after an injury on the field, he smells a powerful Alpha pheromone in the air!

He turns around and sees the person who's usually even colder than him, eyes bloodshot with instinctive aggression. Lu Zhixing gapes. "Boss, you're pretending to be a Beta too?"

Chi Yaojing looks away and lowers his eyes, no longer looking at him.

Later, Lu Zhixing discovers that this bastard is pretending to be a lot more than just that.

And Lu Zhixing learns to keep his mouth shut and stop flirting and provoking him. Most of all, he spends every day covering his own neck.

More or less, a story about old-timers returning to the top and going on adventures.

The bottom is an Omega pretending to be a Beta, and the top is an Alpha pretending to be a Beta. That won't change.

The main focus is the plot. The author's original setting is vast.

Not a conventional, straightforward power fantasy about mech competitions. There are other elements too.

Also known as The Years of Infighting at the Alliance Military Academy. The Alliance classmates join the story. I want to tell the story of a group who once shared the same ambitions, then fell apart and fought one another for many years, only to unite again for the same goal.

The competition scenes feature plenty of Lovecraftian, nonhuman creatures, such as mechs battling tentacle monsters. There are quite a few suspenseful, bloody, and frightening scenes, so this isn't a straightforward mech competition story. :-D
