The Yin Yi Sect's ancestors vanquished demons and defended the righteous, accomplishing great deeds. Now, only one descendant remains.
The old sect leader is about to die, and Su Xiu risks getting fired from her company to sneak out and attend the succession ceremony.
She is handed an ancient book as thick as the Xinhua Dictionary. Its cover reads: The Twelve Mirrors.
"This is a list of people we've offended. If you run into any of them and can't beat them, remember to keep out of their way," the old sect leader says, then takes his last breath.
Su Xiu spits out the grass stem in her mouth. "Fine. The Yin Yi Sect ends with me. I hereby declare it disbanded."
At midnight, Su Xiu has to open her eyes because she can't breathe. Several rows of ghosts are sitting at the foot of her bed.
"I've retired, everyone," she says, but before she can finish, the Twelve Mirrors leap up as if injected with adrenaline.
"Our nemesis is here! Run!" the little sweet ghost yells.
Su Xiu grabs her demon-subduing pestle and flings open the door. Standing outside is the refined and proper President Fu.
"Secretary Su, did you forget to clock in?"
