In many games, players will dutifully take on dull, tedious jobs just to trigger a quest.
What makes horror games more advantageous, and more unreasonable, than other games is that employers generally don't have to pay their employees.
Because those employees are going to die soon.
Xie Hongxiao had just inherited several shops when strange things started happening:
Most of the employees who slacked off survived just fine, but in every shop, the most hardworking and enthusiastic employees always met with disaster.
Xie Hongxiao: What's going on? Is a competitor targeting me?
Xie Hongxiao: What a low-down trick!
He decided to save his good employees.

One day, players suddenly noticed that in the danger-filled infinite game, the ubiquitous, cold-blooded boss NPC had become a different person.
He had grown warm and friendly, offering players clues time and again and easily driving off the monsters about to kill them.
When the players were about to leave the game, he said goodbye to them excitedly: "There aren't many employees as dedicated as you these days. Now that you're leaving, I don't know where I'll find new hires."
Players (thinking): Grumbling under their breath. If we weren't trying to survive, who'd bother helping those NPC employees with this and that?
After seeing the protagonist chase the boss around like a dog:
Players (giving in): Don't worry, Store Manager. We'll miss you!
What's the harm in clinging to someone powerful? Fine, we'll do it!

Player 02, also known as X2, was nicknamed "the conquest team." A notorious miser, he sold quest speedrun guides and intel to players everywhere. He made a fortune helping people complete quests, until... more and more players started saying they could clear the games themselves?
X2 (seething with resentment): Who's stealing my livelihood?
The young, kind, sunny store manager stepped out and gave him a friendly smile. "You're the new employee?"
X2: ...I can't be swayed. It's just good looks. I can't be swayed.
X2 again: Store Manager, marry me. (Leaning against the wall with one hand, rose in his mouth.)
