After being hunted down in the night, Qiao Xiaoqiao climbed out of the cellar to find nothing but the bodies of her loved ones and a single battered saber.
Her eyes bloodshot, she picked up the saber. “Kill, kill, kill!”
Suddenly, the rusty old saber chimed and spoke. “Life and death are only natural. You're a young girl, don't be so full of murderous rage.”
To ease the murderous intent in Qiao Xiaoqiao's heart, the battered saber took her on a journey through mountains and rivers, helping orphaned children who had lost their fathers and guiding women who had lost all hope.
Later, they passed a scenic hillside, and she heard it had once been a mass grave.
“You're right,” Qiao Xiaoqiao said, looking at the hillside now covered in endless green grass. “Life always moves forward. I should let go.”
But the saber did not say a word.
Sensing something was wrong, Qiao Xiaoqiao lowered her head to look. The long saber, dark and gleaming in her hand, had turned bright red. Its blade trembled, and even its copper hilt was frighteningly hot.
A young man's voice came from within, struggling to contain itself. “Kill, kill, kill!”
