We set out from Chengdu and headed west, crossing the vast land. We traveled through plains and wetlands, passed high mountains and canyons, crossed snow-capped peaks and glaciers, and reached Lhasa. We talked about love, freedom, movies, astronomy, and everything real that we could touch, as well as the vast, ethereal void.

I have never taken a road trip myself or traveled Route 318. Since this story is based on real-world settings, I did a lot of research to make it feel authentic and keep it close to reality. I looked up extensive information about every location, including online videos and written sources.
