Quiet2885 is a very popular Phantom of the Opera fanfiction author on FFn, and has written many high-quality works over the past decade or so. This novel was completed in 2018. It's a longfic set in Leroux's Phantom of the Opera universe, with a little Kay and a modern AU, plus some light sci-fi. It's drama-focused, retains the traditional elements of Phantom of the Opera fanfiction, yet also has a highly original plot. Alongside the three central characters, ECR, the cast includes the Persian, Madame Giry, and several memorable original characters. The style is somewhat dark, or rather, its contrasts between light and shadow are vivid. I'll say no more, or I'll spoil it. All in all, it's a wonderful story. The plot and characterization really struck a chord with me. I reread it several times after finishing it, and finally couldn't resist asking the author for permission to share it with more people.
