A Certain Case Study in Microexpressions

A serial killer has appeared in Beika Town. Someone came to the police station to report that the killer had been following him.

But when the officers questioned him, they got a laughable explanation: "His expression looked like he was planning a crime."

"His eyebrows are lowered and drawn together, his eyelids are raised, and his facial muscles are tense. His expression clearly shows aggression." He pointed to a photo on a nearby table. "Like this."

Hagiwara laughed. "They've already confirmed that explosion was an accident."

"No," he said firmly. "It was a premeditated crime."

His violet eyes were so bright you could see the reflection of his eyelashes in them as he looked straight at Hagiwara.

"Why don't we investigate a little further?" Hagiwara found himself suggesting this to an officer from the First Investigation Division.

Aso Sanbo could shatter any disguise with his violet eyes, which always seemed to see through every lie, while his expression remained unreadable.

"I still have a lot to learn, so I hope you'll guide me. So, Amuro, what are you nervous about?"

Content warnings and notes:

*// The protagonist is neither on the Black nor the Red side. He's chaotic good and does what he believes is right.

*// The protagonist is at the center of the story, with multiple unrequited crushes. No pairing or an open ending. Plot-focused.

*// Information about microexpressions and related topics comes from shows and books such as Lie to Me and The Definitive Book of Body Language. It isn't professional knowledge and is exaggerated for entertainment.

*// All cases are original. There may be plot holes, but I'll do my best to explain them.

*// Anti-piracy settings prevent purchases if less than 80% of the story has been read.
